Planning Group

In March 2004 Planning staff working in South West Protected Landscapes came together for the first time to exchange practice and consider joint working activities.

A CD-ROM was produced and circulated capturing learning from the day and linking to a range of good practice case studies around the region.

Equestrian Development - Impacts and Management in Protected Landscapes

SWPL is working with partners to develop good practice guidance for equestrian development in Protected Areas. A Task & Finish Group has been established and will meet through the year. We are aiming to produce a south west summary of guidance with supporting materials for a number of Protected Areas early in 2010.

 

AONB/NPA Management Plan Overview

SWPL has developed a regional summary of management plan content/ priorities as a searchable database on this website. A regional overview helps raise awareness of Managment Plan ambitions and identify key commitments for delivery of regional environmental and cultural priorities.

Questionnaire

A questionnaire was sent out in January 2004 to all SW AONBs to identify current practice with respect to the planning process.

 

Community Planning

The Forum is working to encourage AONBs to engage with Community Planning processes. A report on the relationship between community planning and AONB management planning was produced in early 2003.
