| Our response to the issue: Landscape Character |
| Objective |
Regional Summary of Key Actions |
A better level of identification and understanding of the historical legacy within the landscape, leading to effective protection and conservation of the cultural and historic landscape, and distinctive character of the AONB. |
Promote use of landscape character assessment to shape decision making in the AONB/NP especially at the community level.
Develop guidance and checklists to inform the development control process and minimise the cumulative impacts of small scale incremental change.
Support the development and delivery of environmental schemes and projects aimed at maintaining and improving the landscape character especially at the community farmer and land manager level.
Protect and maintain the tranquillity of the AONB/NP and reduce noise and light pollution.
Catalogue and understand the landscape heritage resource - a better understanding of what makes landscape special will enable all to plan ahead for adapted landscapes.
Opportunities will be taken to strengthen landscape character by improving the condition of existing landscape features identified as being in poor condition and reinstating landscape features identified as missing or fragmented. |
